Hopefully, the council will repeat there previous stance when the contract was awarded for 4 years before needing to go to tender .
Provide or get advice on everything Puerto Pollensa, ask questions, gain confirmation or just become apart of a friendly, like minded community.
Re post #37 - but nobody can control the sun and rain; more of an "act of god".
Beds and brollies are totally controllable; more of an "inaction of the Council".
Wholly unacceptable for early season visitors; (and lost income for the Council).
It's beyond a joke all this nonsense now. I said some time ago that the beach MUST be prepared for when the first tourist arrives. Never mind the weather, when a season starts, who's got the contract nonsense. It's pathetic and that along with the ignorant type of cyclists will start putting off tourists.
No other beach area in Spain is so unprepared for tourists. Add to that the fact that no one even bothers to clean the beaches. Not good.
Nick I am not sure the comment about not cleaning the beaches is actually correct , the beaches were being cleaned even back in March
Can I also say I really don't understand this obsession with beds and Brollies.
Yes I do agree, if they are to be made available for tourists then they should be available for the start of the season ...... But personally I think the beaches look nicer without them and would prefer to see less of them so that the natural beauty and vista that we see off season is also available to people who only get over in the season.
PP and north Majorca has so much to offer ...... But we seem to get all of a tizz about this subject every single year as though the presence of beds and Brollies is one of the most essential things about a holiday in early May
I think we are all forgetting that part of designating the contract has to go via Madrid, and that since the calling of the last elections, held on 21st Devember 2015, Spain STILL hasn't got a government.
Fair enough if the cleaning machine is out then. I've never seen one but there you go. I've never seen one out in the height of the season when it needs to be done as well.
Just my opinion.

Under the list of contracts out for tender, there wasn't one for beach services for the current season.
Now, both the Unió Mollera Pollencina (UMP), the Puerto Pollensa party, and Tots per Pollença, the grouping led by former mayor Tomeu Cifre, have made clear their thoughts on the matter. Cifre says, and this is what the evidence of the website suggested, that the tender hasn't yet been raised, meaning - obviously - that the process for awarding the concession has not begun. He also says that the town hall administration did not seek new authorisation from the Costas Authority until the end of January, when this would normally be done in November. (The national government Costas needs to give authorisation when new contractual arrangements are being made.) Cifre sums up the situation as "total chaos".
The UMP, meanwhile, which has one councillor and forms part of what is otherwise an administration dominated by the left-wing Junts Avançam, has described the situation as "regrettable".
