Renovation of The Square

Definitely pushing on. Fencing delivered which I presume is for the areas dug up. There are still 24+ trees remaining in and around the square so not quite as bare as you might imagine. I think by next week we may see what their intentions are.

So they are definitely putting the fences back up again then. I remember years ago when they were not there, far better for the children to play, but obviously the dogs were there too. I wonder if they could put a gate there?

The fencing I was referring to is security type fencing, but I think they will retain some of the original fences but less.

Ah I see. Perhaps they can make an interesting feature of the permanent ones, in keeping with the square, rather than just council type. Fingers crossed.

Sparky - your photo's taken in the rain remind me of school Geography lessons many, many years ago.
Mediterranean Climate:- 5W's - Warm, Wet, Westerly, Winds... in Winter!

Thanks for the additional photos of El Placa Major!

Aahhh!!! I was expecting something like that. Fully aware of its correct name, hence the apostrophe (!). Just that almost everywhere in Mallorca / Spain has one (a P.M.)... and P.M.C. is Puerto Polleca's. I would think that a lot of people on holiday won't ever know its correct name... its just "The Square" to most people and thats good enough for them. Thanks for keeping everyone on the 'straight and narrow', keep up the good work.

Today you can see they have built kerb style surrounds to the green areas where the fencing was removed and are digging the remainder to presumably lay paving of some kind.As you say Sparky they are cracking on.

Hi Sparky

Rebel

Hi Rebel,
I will keep adding photos until the work is complete, hopefully it will be finished by the time you come out but i am not making any promises ;).

I think it will open the square up and make it seem bigger - I have always thought that the 'green' areas created bottlenecks.

We will see

We've just walked around the square and it is beginning to look as though it will be a great improvement. Early days yet but, maybe the council have got something right !

Today as I walked through the square, cement was being delivered and placed in the half of the gardens which have been dug up. The garden areas were being rotovated and their were about 4 new trees waiting to be planted in each section. Not sure yet whether they will renew grass or or place gravel over the soil.
