You're correct about types of safe. If you can, have one that's cemented into the floor and of good quality.

I still recommend that people keep things separate and well hidden. If you take a few moments to think about it you can soon come up with some good hiding places. As I've stated before, if you keep everything in a safe and it's discovered and entered you've lost everything.

Thanks so much for all of your kind words. We have had a lovely evening in PP tonight, but have decided to return home tomorrow. Mallorca has always been our haven away from the reality of life, but currently we are not relaxed and enjoying our time here. A holiday should be carefree, but on this one occasion, we would prefer to be elsewhere.

Following our burglary earlier this month, we both went off PP for a moment and were happy to return to the UK.

Suffice to say that the pull of the place is just too much and we are back this Sunday and cannot wait!

Those of you who know me will be aware that I feel safer in PP than almost anywhere else and truly believe that the level of crime is far less than that in most parts of the UK

However I can't not warn people about something witnessed by friends of ours who have just returned

Our friends were sat outside the Spar on the Formentor road and witnessed an elderly lady and gentleman walking towards the Hostel Singala - the man stopped to call into the shop (they think) and the lady continued on her way.

They then saw 2 boys aged about 15 on a pushbike wearing hoodies and with scarves tied across their faces ( which in itself is strange as it was very warm )

One of the boys went ahead of the lady and hid around the back of a wall and the other signalled to him as the lady walked towards him - our friend spotted this and jumped up and headed over towards the lady - immediately the signaller whistled and the other lad ran off.

Our friend then went and spoke to the couple who are PP residents and explained what he had witnessed - the couple then told him that the boys had followed them down the Formentor Road and they had thought it was a little strange.

So we may be putting 2 and 2 together and getting a much higher number than 4 , or the boys may well have had their sights on the ladies handbag which she was carrying by her side - who knows

Moral of the story is once again to remember that sadly - wherever you are in the world, however chilled and relaxed you are, some people are NOT NICE

Not what you want to hear as you pack your bags We are due at Singala on Friday.

I'm sure if Josef, the manager at Singala, was aware of the incident he would have reported it to the local Police. He's very protective of his hotel and his visitors.

Hopefully it was an isolated event, but perhaps good to have a little reminder that, as you say, some people are not nice.
